Working with Domains
In the SNAPsolution application, a domain is used to partition
companies or
regions into separate PBX or application instances. Each domain has its
own IVR
and voice mail instances. The domain is usually entered as the company
name. It
can be entered without an extension, or with an extension such as .com.
Domains are managed using the Domains page.
To Display the Domains Page
- On
the Users menu, click Domains.

Determines whether the domain will be rated by a rating server
(NAS).
Yes = domain is rated via NAS.
No = domain is not rated via NAS. (default)

Residential
|
Indicates whether the user is a residential customer
Yes = residential user
No = not residential user

Domain Policy
|
Determines whether a domain is locked or active. Used to
temporarily disable a domain.
Locked = domain is not currently
active.
Active = domain is active. (default)

Call Limit
|
Determines the maximum number of concurrent calls that can be
made

Active Call

Displays the number of active calls

Max # Sub
|
The maximum number of subscribers that can be created in this
domain

Initially, the Domains page shows all domains in the
system. To locate a particular domain, you can search the name in the Find Domain
field at the top right side of the Domains page . You can also use the Select
Reseller drop-down list at the
bottom-left side of the Domain page to filter domains by reseller.
If the number of domains shown exceeds what the page can
display, a next link appears at the
lower right area of the page. Click this link to display the next page of
domains.
The Domains page also has a Refresh button. After you add,
edit, or delete a domain, click this
button to update the contents on this page.
Finding a Domain
To find a domain on the Domains page:
- In
the Find Domain field, enter the
first few characters of the domain you want to find. For example, to
find the
domain “citilife.com,” you can type cit
or life.
- Click
the Refresh button. Only the domains
that match the characters you typed appear in the Domains page.
Filtering Domains by Reseller
Initially, the Select
Reseller field contains an asterisk. This character means the
Domains page
shows domains for all resellers. To filter the domains by a particular
reseller:
- In
the Select Reseller drop-down list,
select a reseller.
- Click
the Refresh button. Only the domains
that correspond to the reseller you selected are displayed in the
Domains page.
If you are a reseller, this option may not be available to you.
Adding New Domains
After you delete a user
account, the devices associated with the user
must be deleted separately by going to the Connections, User Devices
page from the main menu.

the Domains page, click the Add
button. The Add dialog box appears
- Complete
the fields in the Add dialog box
- Click
the Create button to exit the dialog
box, then click the Refresh button.
The domain you added appears on the Domains page, with the settings you
selected in the Add dialog box.

Editing a Domain
There may be times when you
need to edit the information for a domain. To edit a domain:
- From
the Domains page, under the Domain
column, click the domain you want to edit. The Details dialog box
appears
- Change
the values in the Details dialog box as necessary
- Click
the Modify button to submit the
change, then click the Refresh
button to update the screen.
Deleting Domains
If you no longer need a
domain, use the following procedure to delete it from the system.
- From
the Domains page, under the Domain
column, click the domain you want to delete. The Details dialog box
appears
- Click
the Delete button. A precautionary
message asks if you are sure you want to delete the item.
- Click
the OK button to delete the domain
(or click Cancel to retain it).
- Click
the Refresh button to update the
screen.
Deleting the domain does not
delete users and devices. The users and devices will be assigned
nil@nil for domain

Working with Users
After you define one or more domains in the system, use the following
procedure
to add user accounts. This section also describes how to edit user
account
settings and delete user accounts from the system, as well as add
departments
and operators.
Users are managed using the Users page.
To Display the Users Page
- On
the Users menu, click Configuration.
- To
view the configuration of a user, click a user name.
- To
view user-configurable features such as call forwards and simultaneous
ring,
click Show Features.

The name of the user. This is usually an extension number, so
it can be dialed. However, it can also be a virtual user with no
devices for forwarding, in which case it can be an alphabetic name.

via a dialed digit. For example: For Sales dial 3.

Used in the company directory from auto attendant. The first
three letters of the user’s last name as represented by the digits on a
phone keypad. The user must have a User name recorded. This can be set
by departments for use with auto attendant.

Dir Ord
|
Directory Order - In the example above, if two people have
similar names, this setting determines which one is played first. Also,
used to determine the order a department will be announced in auto
attendant when directory match is set to departments.

Dir Anc
|
Determines whether the name of this user will be announced in
the company directory.
Yes = the name of this user will be announced in the company
directory.
No = the name of this user will not be announced in the
company directory. (default)

|
Directory List
Yes = this user will appear in the domain directory. (default)
No = this user will not appear in the domain directory.
|
Time Zone
|
Time zone in which the user resides.
|
NoAns T/O(s)
|
No answer timer. Determines the number of seconds that the
phone will ring before the next application is selected. For example, a
ring that is not answered after this time automatically goes to voice
mail.
|
VMail Prov
|
Determines whether this caller will have voice mail.
Yes = this caller will have voice mail.
No = this caller will not have voice mail. (default)
|
Data Limit
|
Determines the limits to how much data can be stored in
voicemail and greetings combined; possible options are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100
or 500MB
|
Caller ID Name
|
User’s caller ID name. Used for outgoing calls. Can be
overwritten by the carrier.
|
Caller ID Number
|
User’s caller ID number. Used for outgoing calls. Can be
overwritten by the carrier.
|
911 Caller ID
|
User’s 911 caller ID number. Used for outgoing calls. Can be
overwritten by the carrier.
|
Area Code
|
This allows you to create general dial translation rules pertaining to local calls based on your area code.
|
Dial Translation
|
Dial translation name to be used on all outbound calls from
this user.
|
Dial Permission
|
Allows restriction of certain calls based on user. Choices are
permit all, deny all, and user-defined (in Dial Permission page).
|
Service Code
|
Service Code
Regular = Regular Subscriber. (default)
Test = Test Subscriber.
|

The Select Reseller
and Domain drop-down lists can be
used together to narrow your view by filtering users by reseller and
domain.

Adding New User Accounts
The following procedure
describes how to add a new user account.
You must configure a user-named
“domain” to have music-on-hold and some other auto attendant features.
Configure this user as any other, but use the User Name “domain”
|
- From
the Users page, click the Add User
button. The Add page will appear, prompting you to select a domain
- In
the Domain column, click a domain.
The Add dialog box will appear
- Complete
the fields in the Add dialog box
- Click
the Create button to exit the dialog
box, then click the Refresh button.
The user account you added will appear on the Users page, with the settings
you
selected in the Add dialog box.

Enter a user name for the user (usually an extension number).
When adding an operator account, this field is read only and
displays the setting operator.

Read-only screen that shows the name of the domain you
selected. The user, department, or operator you add will belong to this
domain. When editing a user account or adding a department or operator
account, this field is read only.

First Name
|
Enter the user’s first name.

Last Name
|
Enter the user’s last name.

PIN
|
Enter a Personal Identification Number for the user. This
number is used for the password for your Web user interface login and
for the voice mail features password when accessing via the phone.

Dept
|
This is the department that the user belongs to
|
Dir Match By
|
The first three digits of the name of the user. This is used
in auto attendant when the prompt says, “Enter the first three digits
of the last name of the party you are calling, using the keypad on your
telephone.” If this field is set to “departments”, this user will be
announced as a choice in the auto attendant as a department. For
example, “For Sales dial 3.”
When adding an operator account, this field displays as Dir
Match in the dialog box, is read only, and displays the setting
operator.

Dir Ord
|
Directory Order -Enter the order in which this person’s name
is announced in the company directory when there are others in the
company directory whose names begin with the same first three letters.
This field is also used in the auto attendant to decide the order
departments are announced.
This field does not appear when adding an operator account.
|
Dir Anc
|
Directory Announcement - Read-only field that shows whether
the user name will be announced in the auto attendant directory when
the first three digits of the name are dialed. This field will not be
allowed a drop down until the user has recorded their name in their
voice mail greetings.
When adding an operator account, this field is read only and
displays the setting No.
|
Dir Lst
|
Select whether the user be displayed in the domain directory
list.
Yes = user will be displayed in the domain directory list. (default)
No = user will not be displayed in the domain directory list.
|
Time Zone
|
Time zone where the user resides
|
NoAns T/O(s)
|
The time, in seconds, this user will ring before going to the
next application. For example; An inbound call may ring the user for 20
seconds then go to voice mail or forward to another user. Values are
from never to 300.

VMail Prov
|
Provision the voice mail function for the user.
Yes = voice mail is provisioned for the user. (default)
No = voice mail is not provisioned for the user.
|
VMail U-Ctrl
|
If the user is provisioned with voice mail (i.e. "VMail Prov" is Yes) this is the control by the user over its voice mail.
Yes = user has enabled its voice mail. (default)
No = user has disabled its voice mail
|
Data Limit
|
Determines the limits to how much data can be stored in

Caller ID Name
|
Enter the Caller ID name to be sent out from this user on
outbound calls. Many times the CID name is overwritten by the carrier.
The default setting [*] specifies that the Caller ID name, as
translated through the dial translation and call routing ,will simply
be passed through.

|
Enter the Caller ID number to be sent out from this user on
outbound calls. The default setting [*] specifies that the Caller ID
number, as translated through the dial translation and call routing,
will simply be passed through.

911 Caller ID
|
Enter the User’s 911 caller ID number. Used for outgoing
calls. Can be overwritten by the carrier.
|
Dial Translation
|
Select from the drop down, the dial translation this user will
hit for outbound calls. For information about adding a dial
translation, see section 6.1.
|
Dial Permission
|
Select to permit all or deny all dial permissions. In
addition, a custom Permission table can be configured.
|
Service Code
|
Service Code

Create User Device
|
Displays the Create a User page where you can

A department is a virtual
user, such as Sales or Support, that is defined for the purpose of
ringing
multiple users or being a selection in auto attendant. A department is
not a
hunt group.

- The Add page will appear, prompting you to select a domain
- In
the Domain column, click a domain.
The Add dialog box will appear
- Complete
the fields in the Add dialog box
- Click
the Create button to exit the dialog
box, then click the Refresh button.
The department account you added will appear on the Users page, with the
settings
you selected in the Add dialog box.
Adding New Operator Accounts
An operator is a user just
like any other. However, the operator is usually used as the central answer
point.

the Users page, click the Add Operator
button. The Add page will appear, prompting you to select a domain
- In
the Domain column, click a domain.
The Add dialog box will appear
- Complete
the fields in the Add dialog box
- Click
the Create button to exit the dialog
box, then click the Refresh button.
The operator account you added will appear on the Users page, with the
settings you
selected in the Add dialog box.
Enabling Reseller Users- Go the UI Config settings and set SCOPE_ALLOW_RESELLER to yes.
Working with Resellers
In the SNAPsolution application, a reseller portal is
used to manage a set of domains. Resellers are managed
using the Resellers page.
To Display the Resellers Page
- On
the Users menu, click Resellers.

and use the drop-down list to change resellers for that domain.

the Delete button. A precautionary
message will ask if you are sure you want to delete the item.
- Click OK to delete the reseller account
